When I'm not on a trip, I'm busy planning one. In fact, I think I enjoy the planning as much as the actual travel! When I have a big trip coming up, every spare moment is spent researching the culture, studying maps, listening to podcasts and watching documentaries on the area's history, so that upon arrival I can focus on the experience.It's not unusual for me to read a dozen books on a country in advance of a trip.

My passion for travel and learning started early. I'm not one for relaxing much on the beach and would rather be traipsing through ruined fortresses and castles, and getting lost in museums. With a bachelor's in theater and a master's in organizational leadership and adult learning, studying culture and understanding the history and context  enhances the experience for me. My favorite trips are those with lots of learning, exceptional guides and opportunities to really experience something off the beaten path.
